The Book Thief is an emotional roller coaster that leaves you on the edge of your seat. Liesel Meminger is placed into a foster home after the death of her brother during the reign of Adolf Hitler. During the Second World War, Liesel finds herself making a relationship with a Jew hidden in their basement all while learning letters and words creating an escape for the daring girl. She and her best friend Rudy Steiner develop a love of stealing. For Liesel, she especially loved stealing books. Can this little girl, hungry not only for food, but also words, make it through these devastating years full of bombings, basement searches, and stolen goods? Only Death will tell.
